◎简　　介　
　In 1948, in a very backward village in China, KMT soldiers are fighting in the civil war. With the gradual defeat of the soldiers by the Chinese Communists, rumors spread that the KMT is planning a retreat to Taiwan. Soldiers are curious about the popular depiction of Taiwan as a place where bananas grow in abundance and they fantasize about an affluent island.

Two simple Chinese soldiers are evacuated to Taiwan along with the rest of the military; they haven't the slightest idea how far away Taiwan is, nor how long they will be there. The island does not turn out to be the paradise they expected as they undergo many trials adapting to their new lives.
